Wollam Gardens Planner Luncheon

It is easy to forget real life as you wander the beautiful grounds of Wollam Gardens, a flower farm located just outside of DC. We were delighted to be a part of the luncheon that marked the debut of Wollam Garden's brand new wedding pavilion, especially as the team of talented DC vendors came together. Half expecting to see little garden fairies hiding behind hydrangeas during our first site visit, we let ourselves get whisked away by this spot's natural beauty & planned our entire design around its organic textures & light, floral color palette.

For this fine space's official debut to members of the wedding industry, we crafted a delicate and graceful design based on the pavilion's natural palette, accenting the venue's acres of flowers and artfully handcrafted architecture.  Sweet Root Village created stunning displays using Wollam Gardens' flowers - A mixture of graceful cascades over the pavilion entryways and flowing centerpieces adorning the luncheon tables. Guests were treated to a light, farm-to-table inspired fare from Heirloom Catering & Event Design, detailed on a hand designed menu from Shrimp Salad Circus, & artfully captured by Amelia Johnson Photography.

Wollam Gardens has been planting, harvesting and selling cut flowers from this historic property for over 20 years, making them a longtime friend of the wedding industry as they provide flowers to many of our region's top floral designer's and make floral dreams come true for brides, year after year. With a unique vision for an open space on his property and the skilled help of local artist, David Braun, Bob Wollam launched a brand new venue to begin hosting weddings and events. This beautiful, natural pavilion was hand built using wood from the property, and is located in the middle of the farm's lush gardens and natural beauty. While the flower farm's daily activities will continue, the pavilion, sitting in the center of our flowering fields, will add another dimension to the farm. With acres of rolling hills and over 80 unique varieties of flowers blooming in every season, this spot will provide the perfect place to say, “I do.”

This luncheon was surely just the beginning of many gorgeous wedding days that Wollam Gardens' wedding pavilion will see. We certainly hope to be working out there for a beautiful wedding day soon!
